Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 30 October 2026
THEAX LTD (trading as A.X.E.L) wants everyone who runs a small company to be able to prepare and file their own returns, including people who use assistive technology. This statement covers:
- axel.trade, our main website
- ct600.axel.trade, our corporation tax guides
- file.axel.trade, A.X.E.L Filing, the app you use to prepare and file your company accounts, CT600 and Self Assessment
Our standard
We design and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard UK public sector websites are held to. You should be able to:
- use every page and every step of a return with a keyboard alone
- use a screen reader, such as VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS
- zoom text up to 400% without content disappearing off the screen
- switch between a light and a dark theme
- read all text at a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 against its background
Every form field has a visible label linked to it, links in running text are underlined rather than shown by colour alone, and messages such as "Saved" are announced to screen readers as they change.
How we tested
On 30 October 2026 we tested the public pages of axel.trade and ct600.axel.trade, and every signed-in page of A.X.E.L Filing (sign-in, dashboard, companies, filings, the CT600 and Self Assessment returns, the tax cockpit, the Tax Playbook and account settings), in both the light and dark themes. We used the axe-core accessibility engine against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 at levels A and AA.
We fixed every failure that testing found. Most were text a little below the required contrast, form fields whose labels were not linked to them, and a cookie banner that did not move keyboard focus to itself when it opened.
Automated testing cannot find every problem, so we are also checking each journey by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader. We will update this statement with the results.
Known limitations
- PDF copies of returns and accounts. The PDF copies of your CT600, accounts and tax computation that you can download are not yet tagged for screen readers. Every figure in them is also shown on screen in the app, which works with screen readers, and we can send any document in another format on request.
- Services run by others. Signing in with Google, card payments through Stripe, and HMRC and Companies House pages we link to are run by those organisations, and their accessibility is outside our control.
- The A.X.E.L job management app at portal.axel.trade is not covered by this statement yet. We are testing it next.
Tell us about a problem
If something is hard to use, or you need information in a different format such as large print, audio or plain text, email support@axel.trade and tell us the page and what went wrong. We aim to reply within 5 working days. If a problem stops you filing before a deadline, say so and we will help you get the return in on time.
Enforcement
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Review
We test again whenever we make a significant change and at least once a year, ahead of each year's update for HMRC's new CT600 in April. This statement was prepared on 30 October 2026.
